Happy Pride Month! I thought it would be nice to share some of my favourite queer horror media!
Books

Things Have Gotten Worse Since We Last Spoke
By Eric La Rocca
(2021)
This one gets mixed reviews but I got what I wanted from it! I bought this because people said it was gross and I wanted to read something yucky. The people were right–one of the few books that have actually made me feel sick to my stomach.
Told through emails and chat logs, the story follows the development of the sadomasochistic relationship between two women and its descent into abuse, control, and depravity.
Psychic Teenage Bloodbath
By Carl John Lee
(2022)
Splatterpunk. Graphic and over-the-top gore. There’s a list of content warnings inside, so make sure to read those!
Having lost her sanity from being unable to communicate, an angry teenage lesbian gets psychic revenge on those who put her into a coma, killing them in gross ways and causing havoc at her school and the hospital.

The Indian Lake Trilogy
By Stephen Graham Jones
My Heart is a Chainsaw (2021) | Don’t Fear the Reaper (2023) | The Angel of Indian Lake (2024)
A love letter to slashers, following queer Blackfeet Native, Jade Daniels. Ideal for lovers of horror movies, especially slashers. My favourite is the second book, Don’t Fear the Reaper!
Slasher-expert Jade finds her hometown plagued by killings–convinced she can’t be the final girl, can her horror wisdom guide the rich, popular girl Letha to end the nightmare and save the town?
Movies

Bodies Bodies Bodies (2022)
Dir. Halina Reijn
A fun horror comedy–a whodunnit slasher with a twist. Horrifically Gen Z, in the best way!
Bee follows her new wealthy girlfriend Sophie to a mansion for a hurricane party. A bunch of Sophie’s rich friends attend and together they drink, get high, and partake in a party game to pass the time. But then things take a turn and the bodies begin to drop–who is out to get them, and will they survive the night?
The Fear Street Trilogy (2021)
Dir. Leigh Janiak
Fear Street: 1994 | Fear Street: 1978 | Fear Street: 1666
A supernatural slasher series set in one town across three time periods. Based on the R. L. Stine books!
With part one following Deena as she tries to save her girlfriend Sam from becoming the latest victim of the Shadyside killers, the series goes onto to delve into the town’s sinister history as they uncover the truth behind the curse of Shadyside.

Jennifer’s Body (2009)
Dir. Karyn Kusama
Cult classic with a homoerotic friendship at its centre. Will send you into a bi-panic if you’re that way inclined! Megan Fox and Adam Brody?
After a band sacrifices Jennifer for fame, things go wrong and she returns to the world as a hungry succubus. Worried by this, her best friend Needy tries to stop the bloody rampage as Jennifer eats her way through their male classmates.
TV Shows

Yellowjackets (2021-)
Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson
A survival horror show with supernatural elements, cults, and sapphics.
A girl’s soccer team are stranded in the wilderness after a plane crash. Switching between their traumatised adult selves and their cannibalistic survivalist pasts, the show messes with the audience’s mind with uncertainty and suspense.
The Fall of the House of Usher (2023)
Created by Mike Flanagan
Inspired by the tales of Edgar Allen Poe, this is a gothic horror drama miniseries by one of my favourite names in horror: Mike Flanagan. It also has a few of my favourite reoccurring Flanagan actors: Rahul Kohli, Ruth Codd, Carla Gugino, Samantha Sloyan, and Lulu Wilson.
As the episodes progress, watch as each Usher usually has some form of often kinky, often queer sex, and then dies in fun Poe-inspired ways. If you want to see rich people get fucked over, this is the one for you! A scathing look at the pharmaceutical industry.

Dead End: Paranormal Park (2022)
Created by Hamish Steele
A hilarious and heart-warming horror comedy animated show, based on the graphic novel series DeadEndia.
Following trans protagonist Barney and his autistic friend Norma as they tackle the supernatural and demonic shenanigans occurring at the theme park they work at, alongside a demon named Courtney and Barney’s talking dog, Pugsley.
These are just a few things that I enjoy and like to gush about. I lot of them are fairly recent, which I didn’t mean to do. Maybe I’ll do some about older pieces in the future?
Hopefully, you find something you like this Pride Month. If you have any suggestions of your own, feel free to comment!
