It’s my fifth year in a row getting accepted into the Aberystwyth MA Anthology!

This year’s theme was ‘crossroads’ and I really struggled to come up with a story for this year. The obvious choice was something to do with a crossroads demon, but that just felt a little boring. I even went so far as to try writing a poem about a dule tree.

Eventually, I came up with ‘Whitherward?’

‘Whitherward?’ is a dark folk tale about a wandering pilgrim who comes across a strange creature at a crossroads signpost. Despite the bright and beautiful scenery, something is wrong.

One could argue that it’s pretty similar to a crossroads demon but I did try to put my own spin on it, and I’m pretty proud of the final product.

Anyway, fifth year! Yippee!
